Samantha Carlyon is the founder of Making Sense of Spaces, a professional organizing service based on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. Rooted in creativity, purpose, and a people-first approach, Sam believes a home should reflect who you are—your style, your story, and the life you’re building.

Born and raised on the island, Sam has always seen organizing as her way of creating, connecting, and having fun. Since childhood, she’s been rearranging and reimagining spaces, using what’s in front of her to create something new. That gift now guides how she transforms homes with clarity, comfort, and care, helping people see the beauty and potential in everything they already own.

Before launching Making Sense of Spaces, Sam spent years in retail where she managed visual merchandising, streamlined back-of-house flow, and built strong customer relationships. In fast-paced high-volume environments, she learned how every placement tells a story, how layout affects behavior, how design shapes how people feel in a space, and how to create an experience with intention. That same level of detail now shapes the way she organizes homes.

Her signature concept Merchandising the Home™ blends visual merchandising with professional organizing. It’s not just about creating order, it’s about creating a space that feels alive. Sam helps clients see what they already have, feature what they love, and bring each room to life with a natural flow that supports how they move through the day.

Sam is known for her energetic presence, creative thinking, and ability to turn everyday rooms into purposeful, easy-to-live-in spaces. Her work follows a clear thoughtful process: starting with the vision, designing a plan that fits the client’s lifestyle, and transforming the space step by step.

She believes organizing should make life easier, not more perfect. Her goal is always to help people reimagine their homes in a way that works for them, spaces that feel lived in, loved, and ready for whatever comes next.
